Workshop Series Rubik's Cube STEM Workshop

Event Info

  • Start from Sep 2024
  • 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM
  • Fairfax, VA and McLean, VA

What is the program?

The Rubik's Cube STEM workshop program is designed to spark an interest in STEM among students in grades 3-6 through the engaging puzzle of the Rubik's Cube. By conducting interactive workshops, the program aims to teach students about problem solving, algorithmic thinking, geometric and spatial reasoning, permutation and combination to enhance their logical thinking skills and allow them to explore mathematical concepts in a hands-on manner. It seeks to make complex STEM principles accessible and fun, fostering a love for STEM and encouraging critical thinking. This innovative approach connects challenging concepts to the tangible, solvable puzzle of the cube.

Post-workshop, students will have the opportunity to register and participate in American STEM Rubik's Cube competitions, designed to provide an incentive for learning and a platform for students to showcase their skills in practice. Awards will be presented to recognize achievements, further encouraging participation and enthusiasm in STEM presented by the Rubik's Cube.

How does it work?

American STEM will organize a series of engaging workshops focused on teaching students the fundamentals of solving Rubik's cubes. These sessions aim to introduce participants to various strategies and techniques essential for deciphering the puzzle, and enhancing their problem-solving skills. The program emphasizes hands-on learning, where students can apply their newfound knowledge in practical settings.

Highlights of the program

Participant Perks: Each student will receive a free 3x3 Rubik’s Cube, a printed solution guide, and a certificate of completion at the end of the sessions they enroll in.
Engaging Workshops: Interactive sessions teach Rubik's Cube solving techniques, mathematical concepts, and various aspects of STEM disciplines.
Hands-on STEM Learning: Practical application of geometric and spatial reasoning, algorithmic thinking, permutation, and combination, etc.
Competitive Edge: Post-learning competitions with awards to showcase skills.
Critical Thinking and Problem Solving: Encourages analytical thinking and problem-solving to find solutions to complex problems.

What are the requirements?

The Rubik's Cube STEM Workshops are free to the public. To participate, interested families with students in grades 3-6 are required to complete a registration form, as spots are limited. This ensures each participant secures their place in the program and helps us prepare enough Rubik’s Cubes for all registered students. Additionally, we ask families to commit to actively participating in the workshops they enroll in to fully benefit from the educational experience offered. This commitment is crucial for the students' learning and progress in mastering the Rubik's Cube and understanding the STEM concepts taught.

How do I apply?
